R Factor
The R factor is used to assess the laboratories to assess if the liver injury seen is due to cholestatic or hepatocellular process.
Formula :
( ALT * Upper Limit of Normal Alk Phos ) / ( Alk Phos x Upper Limit of Normal ALT )
Explanation of Result :
>=5 is consistent with hepatocellular damage.
